Pathanjali Yoga Sutra - Ch-1 - V-20

Patanjali Yoga Sutra – Chapter-1 – verse-20:-
श्रध्दा वीर्य स्मृति समाधि प्रज्ञा पूर्वक इतरेषाम् ॥  ।२०।
The concentration of the true spiritual aspirant is attained through faith, energy, recollectedness, absorbtion and illumination.

Faith is not just accepting all kinds of Dogmas and creeds without question.  True Faith is that which is recommended by Patanjali.  To start with one should do constant practice.  As faith increases through personal experiences and energy grows through practice, the mind acquires a direction.  Our thoughts have been scattered, as it were, all over the mental field.  Now when we begin to collect them again and to direct them toward a single goal – Knowledge of Atman. As we do this we find ourselves becoming increasingly absorbed in the thought of what we are seeking.  And so, at length, absorption merges into illumination and the knowledge is ours.
